Hedge Balls:
A hedge ball is a hedgehog in a defensive position or a fat hedgehog (usually young).
Hedgehogs are actually cute little burgers. I would rather have one of these then a gerble. Here is a good site for hedgehogs. Borrowed the picture and this backgrond from their site too.
Green Brains
Now that name is interesting. I kind of like it, the fruit does look like green brains. However, very few use this name.
Horse Apples:
95% of the search links on the net indicate horse apples as a pile of horse manure. I can't imagine anyone calling a hedgeapple a horse apple, but you know the saying, manure happens 5% of the time! People who use "Horseapples" for Hedgeapples must have green brains.
Mock Orange:
Don't have an idea how this got started. Somebody must have tried to pass off a crate full of hedgeapples as green oranges.
